Biographie
Petra Lüschow studied theater, film, and literature at Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Vienna before pursuing scriptwriting and dramaturgy at the College of Film and Television Potsdam from 1996 to 2001.
Her debut film, "Going Private" (2006), premiered at the Berlinale Panorama in 2006, featuring Michael Neuenschwander, Susanne Maria Wrage, and Bettina Stucky in lead roles, and earned international accolades. The film is an intense chamber drama exploring how the greed of the New Economy impacts personal relationships. In 2008, she adapted the bestseller "Tannöd" for cinema, starring Julia Jentsch, Monica Bleibtreu, and Volker Bruch. Her writing credits also include television series scripts, such as for "Tatort," and films like the comedy "The Hamster," featuring Roeland Wiesnekker.
In 2010, Lüschow made her directorial debut with the short comedy "The Little Nazi," for which she also wrote the screenplay. This black comedy, starring Steffi Kühnert, Oliver Stokowski, and Christine Schorn, centers on the entrenched confrontation many Germans face with their families' Nazi past. The film screened at over one hundred festivals worldwide and won numerous international jury and audience awards, including the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Short Film Award and the Best Comedy Award at Melbourne’s International Short Film Festival "Heart of Gold." Her feature film debut as writer and director, "That's it, Helmut," was released in 2018.
