Biographie
Victoria Lang has built PLus Films into one of New York City's most prominent independent film companies. Her sharp talent recognition and strong sense of integrity have made PLus a highly sought-after production partner. Victoria’s insight led to the production of Aaron Sorkin’s first play, Removing All Doubt, featuring Kevin Bacon, Matthew Broderick, Fisher Stevens, Tim Daly, Lonny Price, Dinah Manhoff, and Tracy Pollan; the creation of the television show Crossing Over With John Edward; and HBO’s acclaimed *61 (The Roger Maris Story), directed by Billy Crystal.
Together with her partner Pier Paolo Piccoli, Victoria produced the independent feature Macbeth in Manhattan (1999), a modern adaptation of the classic tale starring Gloria Reuben (ER), John Glover (Love, Valour, Compassion!, Payback), and Harold Perrineau (William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, The Edge, Oz). Macbeth in Manhattan earned the Best Feature award at the South Beach Film Festival, the Audience Award at the Long Island Film Festival, and was selected for the dramatic feature competition at the 1999 South by Southwest and Florida Film Festivals. It also served as the Premiere Film at the 16th Long Island Film Festival and was among five U.S. films invited to screen under special consideration for competition at Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week and Director’s Fortnight.
Victoria also produced the online serial movie Chaos Theory (2000), which aired in thirty daily three-minute episodes on Alloy Online (www.Alloy.com), a top website for teens. Chaos Theory follows a group of high school students on a New York City field trip gone wrong, blending a Blair Witch Project vibe with MTV’s Road Rules style. The film features musical performances and a special guest appearance by Atlantic Records artist Angela Via.
Her earlier work includes independent features such as Dark Tides (1998), starring Paige Turco (The Agency) and John Haymes Newton (Melrose Place), which premiered on Showtime; Perfect Lies (1998), featuring Charis Michelsen (High Art); and The Fountain of Death, all currently distributed worldwide. Victoria has earned three Emmy Award nominations for her role as Producer on the nationally syndicated television show Live With Regis & Kathie Lee. She subsequently created and executive produced Haven, a weekly syndicated half-hour home decorating show starring Joy Philbin (Mrs. Regis), now in its successful seventh season. Ms. Lang also co-produced and wrote the well-received 1994 and 1995 PBS pledge specials Guy Lombardo: The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven and Glenn Miller’s Greatest Hits, starring Kathie Lee Gifford. For A&E, she produced the star-studded, top-rated special Rosemary Clooney’s Demi-Centennial: Golden Anniversary (1995), featuring Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Lily Tomlin, Joanne Woodward, Barry Manilow, Diane Sawyer, Bob Hope, and George Clooney.
Ms. Lang served as Senior Vice President and Director of the Broadcast Department at the Rowland Company, a Saatchi and Saatchi division, where she developed innovative broadcast concepts including sponsored entertainment, educational programming, and infomercials. She also oversaw network and local placements, satellite and video news release production, and distribution.
Her experience extends to working with Lorimar/Warner Brothers Television, Saban Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting, and Stephen J. Cannell Productions on program development. She served as Production Executive for Elizabeth Taylor/Zev Bufman Productions, Media Coordinator for American Cinema Releasing, and Talent Coordinator for Guber-Gross Productions, producing stage shows featuring leading names in music and comedy.
In 1993, she founded Lang Entertainment Group, Inc. to develop and produce television and home video content. In 1995, she partnered with Pier P. Piccoli to establish PLus Films, Inc., focusing on commercial independent feature films. They also launched PLus Media, Inc. to create and produce lifestyle programming for national and local TV.
