Biographie
Robin F. Baker, born in Aiken, South Carolina to Dorothy Ann Abney and Willie Lee Baker, is an actor, director, producer, writer, and award-winning animator. Raised in The Bronx, he earned a Regents diploma from LaGuardia High School, an Associate's (AAS) degree from New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, and a Bachelor's (BFA) degree from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.
Although he had a formal art education and a successful career in graphic design and advertising in New York City, Robin always aspired to act. In 2014, after being cast as the lead in the NYU student film "Blue in Green" by Mia Taper, he transitioned to full-time professional acting. He quickly took on a variety of comedic and dramatic roles across feature films, shorts, music videos, commercials, industrials, and voice-overs. Notably, he portrayed a Dutch Cop on CBS's MacGyver (2016), utilizing his foreign-language skills gained from living temporarily in Europe. His recent feature roles include Robin Harley in the horror film Red Letters (2019) and Stan, a washed-up murder tour operator, in the horror-comedy 6:66 PM (2017), both directed by Jim Klock.
Active in the independent short-film scene, Robin played Patrick, Jr., a middle-aged adopted son confronting family struggles, in the award-winning Two Peas in a Pod (2019), written by Chantey Colet and directed by Collins Abbott White. He also showcased his linguistic talents as Presidential Chief of Staff Donald Ryans in A New Age: Clash of Civilizations (2017), directed by Kiyun Sung, where he spoke Korean to his friend, Chancellor Yoon Taek-soo, played by Joomin Hwang.
Robin has contributed his time and skills to NYU Tisch’s Sight and Sound Studio, supporting students and alumni post-graduation. He frequently collaborates with writer/director Mark Depasquale, starring as a hitman struggling with his mission in the indie action-comedy short Troubleshoot (2018).
Recently, Robin has worked behind the camera as director, producer, editor, and composer for the Amazon Prime series Deceptives (2020), written by and starring Catherine Crumber as Det. Michelle Simmons, alongside Gisane Vincent as Det. Jackie Brower. He is also developing several screenplays, favoring a slow-cooker creative process that allows greater depth and imagination to emerge.
