Biographie
Brian Miller, an eleven-time Emmy Award-winning producer in television and film, served as senior vice president and general manager of Cartoon Network Studios from 2000 to 2021. He established the Burbank, California production facility in 2000 and managed the studio’s production of original Cartoon Network programming both domestically and internationally, along with day-to-day operations. Miller developed and implemented the unit-based animation production model that fostered a unique and creative environment at the studio. He also oversaw the production of scripted live-action series and original live-action TV movies for the network. Joining Cartoon Network in 2000 to launch the production facility, Miller oversaw the creation of over 3,000 episodes. Under his leadership, the studio became a leader in animation awards, earning 47 Emmy nominations in both prime time and daytime categories, multiple Annie Awards, Italy’s Pulcinella Award, and Annecy’s Cristal Award for Best Television Series, making Cartoon Network Studios the most awarded television animation studio of the past decade. Beyond studio productions, Miller consulted on co-production agreements and managed production requirements for shows produced outside the studio. Before Cartoon Network Studios, Miller was vice president of production at Nickelodeon’s Animation Studio, opening its facility in 1998 and overseeing domestic and international production on series such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Hey Arnold!, and the Oh Yeah! Cartoons shorts. Prior to that, he was vice president of animation production at Hanna-Barbera, managing domestic and overseas production on series including Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, and The What a Cartoon! Shorts program. Miller began his animation career in the mid-1980s at DIC Enterprises as an associate producer and eventually became vice president of production. Before over two decades in animation, he started his career in live action, specializing in early reality programming like That’s Incredible! Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio, Television & Film from California State University, Northridge.
