Biographie
Manouk began her acting career in 1980 after graduating from the Herman Teirlinck Theatre School in Antwerp, Belgium. She further honed her skills through Masterclasses with Warren Robertson, Jack Waltzer, Delia Salvia, and Candice Darra in Amsterdam and New York. From 1997 to 2001, she studied at the Actor Centre in London, and in 2007 she completed a year-long acting program at Trappan in Gothenburg, Sweden.
She has lived and worked in the Netherlands, the UK, and Sweden, starring in over 50 films and TV series, including the BBC shows 'A Touch of Frost' and 'Close Relations'. Manouk played the female lead alongside Tom Hulce and Jeroen Krabbe in 'The Shadowman', directed by Polish filmmaker Piotr Andrejev. She also portrayed Celine, 'The Dragon Catcher', in 'Kingdom'. Alongside her screen roles, she has performed on stage, playing Amanda in Jean Anouilh's 'Leocadia' and appearing in Chekhov's 'The Three Sisters' and Strindberg's 'The Stronger' in Sweden.
In 2012, Manouk collaborated with German director Kai Zastrow on the film 'The Lucky One Lost.' She returned to the stage in 2013, touring the Netherlands with the play 'Eindeloos'. In 2014, she starred as Rebecca Johansson in the Dutch Net5 series 'Fashion Planet'. The following year, she traveled to Japan to film the documentary 'In the Footsteps of Nichiren', which aired on Dutch television. More recently, she appeared in supporting roles in 'West of Liberty' and played Emma in the action film 'Kill Mode', slated for release in 2019.
Manouk is also an accomplished writer. She has participated in Robert McKee's scriptwriting workshops in London, Scriptplus in Amsterdam, Creative Writing courses at LOI, and a scriptwriting course at Endemol Productions. She has authored travel articles for various Dutch magazines, columns about London for the newspaper 'Het Algemeen Dagblad', and columns for the women's magazine 'Nouveau'. Her debut novel, 'Zingend Riet', was published in 1997. In 2011, she interviewed members of The André Rieu Orchestra, with her resulting articles featured in 'The Glossy André Rieu Magazine'. Her book 'De Rode Draagdoek' is scheduled for publication by Uitgeverij Aspekt in autumn 2019.
Additionally, Manouk is a skilled voice-over artist, fluent in Dutch, English, and Swedish, with working knowledge of German and French.
