Biographie
Dain has worked as an Actor, UPM, Line Producer, Producer, Executive Producer, and Film and Distribution Executive on numerous independent films spanning various genres. Though his passion for acting came first, it was his enthusiasm for production and finance that ultimately captivated and sustained his interest. He has contributed to several production companies, including serving as Head of Production for Full Moon Features and running his own production company, Shoot Productions, which produced nine films between 2005 and 2009.
Dain has managed financing, development, acquisition, and production for multiple award-winning projects, including the Berlin International Film Festival Official Selection "Gardens Of The Night," starring Gillian Jacobs, Evan Ross, John Malkovich, Tom Arnold, Kevin Zegers, and Jeremy Sisto, as well as the GLAAD Media Award-nominated film "Geography Club," based on the bestselling novel.
From 2011 to 2017, Dain served as Executive in Charge of Production at Sunrise Pictures, overseeing various aspects of high-profile films such as "The Trials of Cate McCall" starring Kate Beckinsale, Nick Nolte, and James Cromwell (distributed by Lifetime); "The Whistleblower" starring Rachel Weisz, Benedict Cumberbatch, Vanessa Redgrave, and David Strathairn (distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Studios); and "Always Woodstock" featuring Allison Miller, Brittany Snow, Katey Sagal, Jason Ritter, Ryan Guzman, and James Wolk (distributed by Gravitas Ventures). He was also involved in several key development projects, including Doug Liman's feature film "Attica," written by Oscar-winning writer Geoffrey Fletcher, and a TV development deal with eOne Television.
In 2016, Dain and fellow Sunrise Executive Jim Klock launched the indie distribution label Terror Films, followed by its sister label, Global Digital Releasing, in 2017. From 2016 to 2019, Terror Films rapidly grew to become one of the fastest expanding indie horror distribution labels, with films available in over 50 countries across 20 platforms. Global Digital Releasing has distributed TIFF and BAFTA-winning films, among others.
Additionally, Dain is the producing partner and husband of writer/director Vincent Sabella, producing all three of Vincent's award-winning short films—"Anonymous," "Note," and "Imagination of Young." He also produced Vincent's debut feature, "Elizabeth Blue," starring Anna Schafer, Ryan Vincent, Oscar-nominated actress Kathleen Quinlan, and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning actor Adelwale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Released theatrically by Global Digital Releasing in late 2017, the film received critical acclaim, with Anna Schafer earning recognition on Variety’s Oscar Dark Horse List for her performance.
Dain remains focused on expanding the distribution labels while working closely with his team to develop a "filmmaker first" distribution model unlike any other in the indie market.
