Biographie
Tzvetana Maneva is one of Bulgaria's most renowned actresses of all time. She was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and her father, George Manev, was also an actor. Her career began with difficulties, as she initially failed to enroll in NATFIZ, the premier Bulgarian academy for actors and directors, due to her inability to pronounce the letters 'r' and 'l'. However, after extensive practice, she was eventually accepted.
Maneva graduated in 1966 alongside classmates such as Ilka Zafirova and Ruth Rafailova, both notable Bulgarian actresses. She made her debut in the play 'Kaloyan'. Her first marriage was to cinematographer Nickolay Penchev, with whom she had a daughter, Nadejda, born in 1969. Some of her well-known films include 'Avtostop,' 'Dami kanyat,' '12 miga ot Tzvetana' (a documentary about her), 'Opasen char,' 'Voynata na taralejite,' 'Edna kaloriya nejnost,' and 'Izpepelyavane.' She is currently married to Iavor Milushev, an actor and politician. In 2004, Tzvetana celebrated her 60th birthday.
In addition to film, Mrs. Maneva has had a distinguished theatre career. Notable performances include roles in 'Opera za Tri Grosha,' 'Svekurva,' 'Nora,' 'Albena,' and 'Medeia.' To mark her 60th birthday, theatre director Margarita Mladenova invited Tzvetana and fellow esteemed actress Maria Kavardjikova to star in David Hare's play 'Breath of Life' ('I Chovekut Stana Jiva Dusha').
