Biographie
As a young girl in Tucson, AZ, Anna worked on several location sets in her hometown. The classic Western genre captured her heart after working on shows like Gunsmoke, High Chaparral, and others set in the Old West. Never imagining acting as a career, she took a traditional path—starting at the University of Arizona as a Nursing major, then transferring to Trinity in San Antonio, TX, to study JBF. She married her high school sweetheart and followed him as he trained to become an Air Force pilot. After settling in Shreveport, LA, Anna eventually returned to stage and screen work. She frequently drove three hours to Dallas for numerous commercials and industrials, including a brief role on the show Dallas, working alongside Larry Hagman and Linda Gray.
Knowing her husband planned to leave the Air Force, they both agreed that Anna would move to NYC to pursue acting full-time. This decision launched a successful life in the Northeast for the Western girl. "She was going to be an actress, he was going to learn to fly"—and both succeeded. He became a commercial pilot, and she found immediate success in commercials during a time when blonde, WASPy women were in demand. Eager to master her craft, Anna began studying acting intensively. While performing in an Off-Broadway play, she auditioned for the NBC soap opera Another World. Though soap operas were never her dream, the opportunity proved to be a blessing. She portrayed Sharlene Frame for seven years, earning a Daytime Emmy in 1996. Anna has maintained a continuous career in TV and film, taking a 13-year break to focus on family before returning after her youngest child left home.
With no children, dogs, or ferrets to care for, she has been able to dedicate more time to theater. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous plays, guest roles, and feature films—and she remains active in the industry.
Anna is married to retired Delta pilot Bruce Holbrook. They have two children, Johanna and Henry, and live in Connecticut.
