Biographie
Kaji is a member of Watanabe Entertainment's group, D-Boys.
As part of the D-Boys, Kaji maintains a blog that he updates occasionally, featuring a personal video greeting. Being with the D-Boys has offered Kaji numerous opportunities, including performing with the group and gaining experience as an entertainer. On August 6, 2005, Kaji appeared alongside Hiroki Suzuki on the radio show Marvelous Radio Vibration, hosted by fellow D-Boys members Yu Shirota and Yanagi Kotaroh. To date, the D-Boys have released two photobooks: the self-titled D-Boys on April 27, 2005, and Start on March 15, 2006, both containing many photos of Kaji.
Between 2005 and 2006, Kaji was the second actor to portray Takeshi Momoshiro in The Prince of Tennis musicals. On March 29, 2006, during the Dream Live 3rd concert, he and most of the Seigaku cast graduated from their roles. Kaji continued playing Momoshiro Takeshi in the live-action film adaptation of the anime/manga series "Tennis no Ōjisama" (2001). Alongside most of the principal Seigaku Regulars cast, he reprised his role in the movie, marking his first major film debut. The film Tenisu no Ōjisama (2006) was released on May 13, 2006, and ranked tenth at the Japanese box office.
Kaji has appeared in numerous TV shows. On January 1, 2006, he and fellow D-Boys member Hiroki Suzuki featured on the Secret New Year's Performance Tournament "Young Man Colosseum," where Kaji showcased his acrobatic skills. After graduating from The Prince of Tennis musicals, Kaji starred in the TV drama Seishun Energy: Check It Out Yo! in Tokyo (Chekeraccho!! In Tokyo), which premiered on Fuji TV on April 12, 2006. Adapted from the film Chiekeratsuchiyo, the 10-episode series featured Kaji as Shingo, one of four main characters. The story follows four directionless high school boys who find inspiration through rap, motivating them to pursue their dreams. Along with co-stars Masataka Kubota, Ryo Kimura, and Gota Watabe, Kaji formed the group ROM-4 for the show and released the CD single "Keep It Goin' On." Subsequently, he appeared as a member of The Tigers in the TV drama The Hit Parade, starring fellow D-Boys members Masato Wada, Yuu Shirota, Hiroki Suzuki, Hirofumi Araki, Yuuya Endo, and Seto Kouji. The series aired on Fuji TV on May 26, 2006.
Currently, Kaji stars in the TV drama Regatta on TV Asahi. The show centers around a university rowing club, where Kaji plays Toshiyuki Hoshino, a freshman team member.
