Biographie
Stewart is a visually-driven director and writer working across cinema documentaries, commercials, and feature films.
His feature film credits include writing and directing the Sky Pictures movie Kiss Kiss (Bang Bang), starring Stellan Skarsgard, Chris Penn, and Paul Bettany, as well as Fast Food, featuring Gerard Butler and Douglas Henshall. He directed the viral short thriller Slaughterbots, which amassed over 200 million views online and attracted global media attention. He also wrote and directed the Sky Arts film The Cruise, starring Jane Horrocks and Jason Watkins.
In documentaries, Stewart often focuses on sports, collaborating with stars such as Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, and Virender Sehwag. His productions have earned multiple international awards, including a BAFTA in the UK and the Grand Prix at Cannes.
Among the feature documentaries Stewart has directed is Kenny, a poignant cinema documentary about Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish, which won three international best film awards and was released theatrically before airing on BBC1. He also directed A Man Can Dream for Sky Documentaries and Blue Moon Rising, an epic story about Manchester City, which received critical acclaim in cinemas and was broadcast on ITV. Additionally, Stewart has served as both director and executive producer on several BBC documentaries, including an intimate behind-the-scenes look at cyclist Geraint Thomas’s quest to win the Tour de France.
Commercial work is also a significant part of Stewart’s career. He has acted as creative director for Rolex and directed Rolex commercials featuring Roger Federer and Tiger Woods. Stewart has directed Channel 4 promos, idents, and commercials for the London, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016, and Japan 2020 Olympics and Paralympics. His commercial clients include Nike, Adidas, Vodafone, BT, Allianz, BP, Samsung, British Airways, General Motors, Renault, Microsoft, Sky, ITV, and Channel 4.
