Biographie
Mike Kochansky is a writer, director, and editor based in Los Angeles, California. Born Michael Philip Kochansky on June 2, 1986, in York, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Michael Thomas Kochansky and the late Nancy Lynn Kochansky. He has three half-sisters and one half-brother.
Kochansky was raised in Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, where he attended Oxford Area High School, graduating in 2004. He then enrolled at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, studying in the Department of Electronic Media within the College of Visual and Performing Arts. His coursework focused on all facets of digital video production for traditional broadcast, cable television, and various distribution formats, complemented by simultaneous studies in Psychology. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Media in 2008.
After graduation, Kochansky relocated to Los Angeles in 2008 to advance his filmmaking career. He started at a small entertainment company, overseeing a production team while directing, shooting, editing, and producing web series, promotional videos, commercials, and brand content. With this industry experience, he later concentrated more on his own filmmaking projects, while continuing to work as a freelance filmmaker.
Since 2010, Kochansky has written, directed, and edited numerous short films and music videos. His music video for This or the Apocalypse's "Subverse" (2011) was released through AOL Music/Noisecreep. His most prominent short film, Mr. Tricker's Treat (2011), has been screened in New York, Los Angeles, and the United Kingdom, earning critical acclaim from several online publications. In 2015, Mr. Tricker's Treat was included in the horror anthology film All Hallows' Eve 2, which features segments from multiple directors. This film was released on VOD on October 6, 2015, and on DVD on February 2, 2016.
