Biographie
David is an acclaimed writer, director, and producer whose work encompasses sci-fi, dark comedy, and emotionally driven character dramas. His debut feature, Under My Skin (Writer, Director, Producer), received nominations for an Australian Academy Award (AACTA) and an Australian Directors' Guild Award. The film was distributed in Australia via Stan, in the US and Canada through MPX/1091, in the UK by High Fliers, and is accessible worldwide.
He wrote, produced, and directed the short film Picture Wheel, which screened at prominent festivals such as Palm Springs, Rhode Island, Cinequest, and Santa Monica—where it won Best Short Film—and was subsequently acquired by Dustx. He also wrote and produced the dark comedy Love & Dating in LA!, which was showcased internationally at Cleveland, HollyShorts, Santa Monica (where it won the Audience Choice Award), among others. Additionally, he executive produced The Horn, which premiered at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
His forthcoming feature, Sons of Salt, secured development funding from Screen Australia and was shortlisted for the Australians in Film Gateway Screenwriting Prize. David has taught writing and performance at institutions including MIT, Edith Cowan University, and NYSSSA. A 2007 graduate of WAAPA, he was highlighted as a director in Inside Film's 2022 Rising Talent issue.
