Biographie
Rick Avery is a stuntman, stunt coordinator, actor, director, helicopter pilot, and aerial coordinator with over 500 credits in feature films, television, and commercials. His work includes "Men in Black 2 & 3," "Captain America," four Batman movies, "Ant-Man," "Get Smart," "American Sniper," "Titanic," "The Prestige," "Star Trek: Insurrection," "The Abyss," "Gangster Squad," "The Crow," and "Charlie Wilson's War." He has received three Screen Actors Guild nominations, winning the Cast Award for "Traffic," the Best Stunt Ensemble Award for "Batman: The Dark Knight," and the 2009 Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Vehicular Work for the same film.
A fifth-degree black belt, Rick was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Honors in 2010 for exemplary achievements and dedication to martial arts. In 2014, he claimed the USA Boxing Old Dog Super Welterweight Championship in the Masters Division. The following year, he won the USA Boxing Ringside National Championship and was crowned World Boxing Champion in the Masters Division at the Ringside World Championships.
Rick has directed two movies and a documentary: "The Expert" and "Deadly Outbreak," both premiered on HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax, and "Raiders Remembered," which received honorable mention at the New York Film Festival. His second unit director credits include the upcoming "Hands of Stone," "Tenacious D," "Scream 3," "Anchorman," "Identity," and "The Sweetest Thing."
As an actor, Rick's credits include "Ant-Man," "Hands of Stone," "Edge of Darkness" opposite Mel Gibson, "Hands of Stone" opposite Robert De Niro, "Heat," "Spider-Man," and "Batman Begins." An accomplished helicopter pilot and instructor with over 7,500 flight hours, he serves as Chief Pilot for National Helicopters and previously worked as a line pilot for Guardian Helicopters, assisting in firefighting operations for two seasons. He pilots A-Stars, Jet Rangers, Long Rangers, Robinson R44s, and Schweizer 300 helicopters.
Rick has flown helicopters for productions such as "The Closer," "The Bachelor," "Three Rivers," "Bloodshot," "Hell's Kitchen," numerous commercials, and airplanes for "24." He also hosted the highly successful internet TV show "Hardknocks." A college graduate, he holds commercial multi-engine airplane and helicopter pilot certifications and is an instructor. Additionally, Rick is a certified scuba diver, former U.S. Army sergeant, and ex-Santa Barbara Metro Police officer.
