Biographie
Alex is a multi-award-winning executive producer renowned for blue-chip documentary and drama projects, with extensive experience as a director, writer, and producer of numerous high-end films.
Most recently, he served as executive producer for Netflix's top ten anthology hit Trainwreck and the feature Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy, which ranked among the worldwide top ten and was the most-watched non-crime/celebrity documentary of the year on the platform. This project also won an Emmy for Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary and received a nomination for Outstanding Graphic Design. Prior to this, Alex executive produced The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker, which topped Netflix movie charts in both the UK and US and achieved global top ten status, as well as The Most Hated Man on the Internet, another global top ten Netflix hit. His previous Netflix series include Bad Sport, nominated for a Sports Emmy, and Killer Ratings, a Brazilian crime and political corruption story that was a major ratings success.
In 2017, Alex executive produced the real-life drama-doc series True Horror for Channel 4 and Eleven Film. He was also co-executive producer of Captive for Lightbox Media, one of Netflix's earliest high-end specialist factual commissions.
He led the creative direction on the initial runs of several hit shows, including the History Channel's dramatization of The Bible—a ratings blockbuster and record-selling DVD box set—and Channel 4/Discovery Channel's I Shouldn't Be Alive, which ran for seven series.
Beyond specialist factual and drama, Alex has found success in other genres such as observational documentary, notably Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet for Double Act TV, which aired for eight seasons as Animal Planet's highest-rated show.
He also spent a year as International Development Lead for BBC TV History, developing co-productions like the landmark UK/German history series The Celts.
Alex's accolades include Emmys, BAFTA, RTS, Cable Ace, BANFF, and a Peabody Award for a diverse range of projects spanning sports, arts, science, history, adventure, feature-length drama-docs, and live-event broadcasts.
