Biographie
Besides writing for TV and film, Bob has authored five books, the latest being The International Bank of Bob (Bloomsbury, 2013). This book offers a personal exploration of global microfinance through investments in small businesses across 89 countries via Kiva.org. Bob tracked his investments as they moved through Kiva, its investors and partners, local loan officers, and ultimately to clients in Rwanda, Lebanon, Kenya, India, Bosnia, Peru, Cambodia, and over a dozen other nations. By May 2016, nearly 2,000 readers had formed a Kiva lending team named Friends of Bob Harris, which has loaned over $6.8 million to small enterprises in more than 80 developing countries.
Due to this work, Bob has been invited to speak at Google, Citi, Visa, over 30 American universities, a plenary session of the European Parliament, and a panel at the US Department of State's annual Chiefs of Mission conference.
Bob also received Associated Press and L.A. Press Club "Best Feature" awards for his syndicated radio commentaries, which aired nationally from KNX 1070, the CBS news radio flagship in Los Angeles, between 1997 and 2002.
Originally from Cleveland, he graduated cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics.
