Biographie
Danny Le Boyer was born in Bien Hao, South Vietnam. His father, Jean Boyer, served as a Colonel and Commander of the 518th Fighter Squadron for the People's Republic of Vietnam. After the fall of Saigon, his mother, Ba Nguyen, escaped the country with Danny and his younger sister, Christy Boyer. They departed on a military C-130 transport aircraft, having survived over 3,000 mortar rounds fired at the airbase the night before. Jean Boyer remained behind to lead his men but was captured following Saigon's fall and became a prisoner of war for 13 years.
After relocating to the United States, Danny grew up in California's Santa Clara Valley. He began martial arts training at age 8, starting with Karate and Tae Kwon Do, and later Jiu Jitsu. His achievements include winning a Silver Medal at the California State Tae Kwon Do Championship at 18 and becoming the Kenpo Karate Grand National Champion. Danny also competed in various Full Force Open Mixed Martial Arts competitions, securing first place in his division.
Danny's aunt, Wynne Wicker, worked as the Vietnamese Technical Advisor on the film Apocalypse Now with director Francis Ford Coppola. The movie won 2 Oscars, along with 14 other awards and 32 nominations. She also served as Vietnamese Technical Advisor on Platoon, directed by Oliver Stone, which went on to win 4 Oscars, 18 other awards, and received 9 additional nominations.
Inspired by his aunt's career, Danny Le Boyer pursued film work. His breakthrough came in 2000 when Stephen McEveety, a producing partner of Mel Gibson at ICON Productions, invited him to work on We Were Soldiers, directed by Randall Wallace. Danny contributed as background casting director and Vietnamese Technical Advisor. The film received the ASCAP Award for Top Box Office Films along with 5 other nominations.
Danny continued his Hollywood career as a stuntman, stunt double, actor, and more recently, stunt coordinator. He has worked on major blockbusters such as The Last Samurai, directed by Edward Zwick and starring Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe, as well as Inception, directed by Christopher Nolan and featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Watanabe.
As an actor, Danny appeared alongside Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz, and Ian McShane in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, On Stranger Tides, directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
In 2007, Danny received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
In 2010, he won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture for his work on Inception.
