Biographie
Ameriie, a multifaceted actress, dancer, singer-songwriter, and producer, first gained global attention in 2005 with her hit single "1 Thing" and continues to grow artistically.
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to Mi Suk, a Korean artist, and Charles Rogers, an African-American military serviceman, Ameriie spent her childhood living in various locations such as South Korea, Germany, Texas, and Alaska due to her father's military service. This constant change fostered a strong sense of identity from a young age. She excelled academically while also exploring creativity through writing fiction and music.
Ameriie attended Georgetown University, earning a bachelor's degree in English and Fine Arts/Design. Shortly after graduating, she signed a record deal and released her debut album, "All I Have." Alongside Richard A. Harrison, she helped steer contemporary R&B away from synthetic sounds by incorporating live, dynamic instrumentation and vocal performances. Three years later, her album "Touch" cemented her status as a dynamic artist, propelled by the success of the go-go-inspired hit "1 Thing." In 2007, she released "Because I Love It," which showcased a hip-hop electro style that continues to influence pop music.
After three critically praised albums, Ameriie chose to redefine her career. In 2008, she left Sony and co-founded Feeniix Rising Entertainment with business partner Lennie Nicholson. She then released "In Love & War," an intense blend of booming hip-hop, raw soul reminiscent of James Brown, and classic Led Zeppelin-style rock. The album transformed experiences from difficult relationships into a powerful collection of songs that connect with anyone familiar with heartbreak.
Currently, Ameriie is working on her new album, "Cymatika," which she describes as exploring "the things that drive us." Continuing her tradition of blending diverse musical styles, this project builds on the sound of 2007's "Because I Love It," incorporating stronger elements of New Wave, trance, and electronica. Additionally, she is developing three books: her debut fiction novel, a guidebook for young girls and teens, and a wedding planning book co-created with celebrity planner Tiffany Nieves-Cook, who has been assisting with her wedding preparations over the past year.
