Biographie
Frank Roman, a Nuyorican Sephardic born in Brooklyn, New York, relocated to Miami, Florida, and has emerged as a dynamic talent in Hollywood with credits in theatre, television, and film. He launched his acting career as the lead in six theatrical productions spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast. His stage work includes starring roles in popular productions such as the renowned musical "The Fantasticks" and Neil Simon's comedy "California Suite."
After moving to Los Angeles, Frank was quickly noticed by Mel Brooks, who cast him in the comedy Life Stinks (1991). The two collaborated on two additional Mel Brooks comedies. With this strong comedic backing, Frank successfully transitioned into feature films. He soon starred alongside comedy legends like Ellen DeGeneres in Mr. Wrong (1996) and Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in The Odd Couple II (1998).
His film career has taken him to diverse locations including Manila, Moscow, and most recently Rome, where he completed filming for the anticipated summer release, Envy (2004). Among his memorable experiences was a strip search in Bucharest, Romania, which he humorously considered a unique perk of his contract.
Having guest-starred in over 20 network television shows, Frank has worked with some of TV’s most esteemed actors, from Brian Dennehy in The Fighting Fitzgeralds (2001) to Jenna Elfman in Dharma & Greg (1997). Demonstrating versatility beyond comedy, he delivered a critically acclaimed dramatic performance in The X-Files (1993) during the show's final season episode "John Doe" as the cunning Domingo Salmeron, and portrayed Cesar Rodriguez in "Noriega: God's Favorite." His TV appearances also include roles in NYPD Blue (1993), Diagnosis Murder (1993), ER (1994), Becker (1998), and Quantum Leap (1989).
In 2003, Frank starred alongside Ben Stiller and Jack Black in Barry Levinson’s comedy Envy (2004). Additionally, he held a recurring role as Reno on the NBC/Gramnet sitcom In-Laws (2002), featuring Dennis Farina and Jean Smart.
