Biographie
Natalie Kerman was born in Tehran, Iran. At a young age, she moved to Sweden and later lived in several other countries before choosing Spain as her permanent home.
She directed her first short film in 2010 in Madrid, Sus ojos / Her Eyes, in collaboration with Enrique San Francisco and Jorge Sanz. The film was selected at several national and international festivals. Her short film La melodía / The Melody, starring Miky Molina, won the Best Short Film Award at the Florence Film Festival (Italy) and at the Kraft Festival (Croatia).
In 2011, she directed the television series pilot Plot Point.
In 2012, she created the video art piece This Too Shall Pass in Tangier, Morocco, with Romina Sánchez. The work won the Best Video Art Award at the Naoussa International Film Festival (Greece) and later received the Indie Gathering Star Award (USA, 2015).
She went on to produce the video art A Sunny Day, which was selected at the Movie Screen Festival (Los Angeles), Cortos con Ñ (Spain), and the Milan Vod Film Fest (Italy). The same work later won the Best Micro Experimental Short Film Award at the Mediterranean Film Festival Cannes (France).
In 2018, Natalie wrote her first feature-length screenplay, La música de la vida / The Music of Life. With permission from writer Damián J. Fuentes, author of Matallana (based on a true story), she later developed a new screenplay and expanded his notes into a television series titled Células.
She has also written the television series My Life as an Artist. Between 2020 and 2021, she completed two feature film screenplays: Nuestros días / Our Days and El cielo en sombras / Shadows on Heaven.
In 2022, she wrote A Secret Sky along with three short films inspired by Persian poets Rumi and Omar Khayyam.
In 2024, she returned with the spiritual short film Circle, which has been officially selected at several international festivals, including the Tokyo International Short Film Festival, New York Film & Cinematography Awards, London Movie Awards (winner), Night of Drama Shorts, and Monza Film Fest.
