Biographie
Steve was born in Perth in 1967. His family soon relocated to Sydney, where he completed his education. After spending two years traveling around Australia on a motorbike, he pursued acting studies at Penrith (Theatre Nepean) in Sydney's outer west. His first role was in a TV commercial for Arnott's Ruffles, which was banned a day after its release due to sacrilege. Since then, Steve has appeared in guest and lead roles on most Australian TV serials and has acted in several films both domestically and internationally (see IMDb listings).
On stage, Steve has performed in Death Of A Salesman, Summer Of The Seventeenth Doll, Paul, The Spook, Buried Child, and Waiting For Godot for Company B Belvoir. He has also appeared in productions for the Sydney Theatre Company, including The War Of The Roses, The Serpent's Teeth, Gallipoli, Tales From the Vienna Woods (all for STC Actors' Company), Holy Day, and Don's Party. Additionally, he has worked with Griffin Theatre Company in The Return (by Reg Cribb—the stage adaptation of Last Train To Freo) and Songket. Steve was a member of the prestigious STC Actors' Company from 2007 to 2009.
Le Marquand co-wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the highly successful theatre production He Died With A Felafel In His Hand (based on John Birmingham's book—not to be confused with the film of the same name). Since its premiere at the Bridge Hotel in Rozelle in 1995, the show has been performed almost continuously worldwide, including cities such as Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, New York, Toronto, Edinburgh, and Wagga Wagga.
Steve resides on the Central Coast of NSW with his partner, Pippa Grandison, and their daughter, Charlie. He is passionate about cricket and rugby league and is a dedicated supporter of the Penrith Panthers.
