Jared Lee Masters is an American filmmaker, actor, and author. Born in Georgia, he spent his first year in Germany before returning to the U.S. with his military family, resulting in frequent moves across the country during his childhood, including time on a Kansas City farm. Initially homeschooled by his mother, he later attended public and private schools in Virginia. His passion for filmmaking began in his teens with skateboarding videos. At 15, he taught himself piano and composed original scores for several of his films. After joining the Screen Actors Guild in 2007, Masters relocated to New York City to study acting, taking minor film and TV roles while working on independent projects. His debut feature, Climb It, Tarzan! (2011), was followed by a series of indie films such as Slink (2013), Deadly Punkettes (2014), Ballet of Blood (2015), Agalmatophilia (2018), and The Nightgown (2023). His work has been showcased at independent festivals, earning accolades like EOTM Awards and audience prizes at genre events. Masters is known for retro-inspired visuals, female-led casts, and a fusion of horror, comedy, drama, and thriller genres. His films have attracted cult and midnight-movie audiences, recognized for their surreal tonal shifts, provocative themes, and nontraditional storytelling.
