Biographie
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Southern New Jersey, Derek Grauer was a standout soccer player in high school, earning numerous awards and statewide recognition. He went on to play at the collegiate level for the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he graduated before shifting his focus to acting.
Derek made his film debut in 2003 as the lead in the psychological thriller Breathe, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. He quickly followed that performance with notable roles in a series of award-winning films, including Hungry Woman, Fear Actually, and Mayberry Man. In 2024, he starred in Jailed Bird, which screened at the Hollywood Film Festival.
His screen work includes appearances in numerous television series and films, most recently in Season 2 of Shrinking on Apple TV+. Derek has also been featured in national commercials for top brands such as Chevy, Nissan Frontier, Miller Lite, Heineken, San Diego County Credit Union, Synchrony Bank, and Saatchi Art, along with international campaigns for Asahi and Aer Lingus.
On stage, he has performed in acclaimed productions including This is Our Youth, True West, Crimes of the Heart, Meet Me at the Oak, and After Angie.
Beyond acting, Derek is an avid surfer, snowboarder, and photographer. He's a passionate reader and a dedicated practitioner of Stoicism, which informs both his creative work and personal philosophy.
