Biographie
Eme Ikwuakor (pronounced ick-walker), a triplet and one of six siblings (five brothers and one sister), was born in Arvada, Colorado, to Nigerian parents. His father, Killian Ikwuakor, moved to the United States on a scholarship to the Colorado School of Mines, where he earned a Ph.D. in Geophysics. His mother, Patricia, runs a business specializing in African Imports and Exports.
Eme attended the University of Colorado on a track and field scholarship and initially planned to major in sports marketing. However, after an advisor’s suggestion, he switched to theater and soon landed the role of Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird," a role that had a profound impact on him. With a long-standing interest in history and African-American rights, Ikwuakor became deeply involved with Colorado’s Interactive Theater Project, a professional acting troupe focused on theater as a tool for social change. This experience greatly shaped his career goals. He is passionate about advocating for causes like Standing Rock, racial justice, and socioeconomic issues.
During this time, he was cast in "Ink," a critically acclaimed independent science fiction film produced locally that won Best Colorado Film at the 2009 Denver Film Critics Society awards and was hailed as one of the best films of 2009 by JoBlo.
Beyond "Ink," Eme has appeared in several notable films, including "Concussion" alongside Will Smith, "Murder in the Dark," "Not Safe for Work," and "The Outlaw Johnny Black" opposite Michael Jai White. He also featured in the Russo Brothers’ Netflix film "The Gray Man" with Chris Evans and Roland Emmerich’s "Moonfall" starring Halle Berry.
On television, Eme is best known for his role as Gorgon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He has also had key roles in series such as Dwayne in Netflix’s "On My Block" and Ejijah in CBS’s reboot of "Matlock." His TV credits include appearances on "Counterpart," "NCIS," "How to Get Away with Murder," "Victorious," and "Silicon Valley."
Currently, Eme lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Megha, and their two children, Taj and Tarek.
