Biographie
Dohn Norwood, a Morehouse alumnus and native of Indianapolis, is steadily gaining recognition in Hollywood. His film and television credits include Bruce Almighty (starring Jim Carrey), Mini's First Time (featuring Alec Baldwin and Carrie-Anne Moss), Castle, Entourage, Without a Trace, ER, Bones, and The Closer. Dohn’s experience combines both extensive training and diverse travel. After earning his Bachelor of Arts from the esteemed Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, he pursued a Master of Fine Arts at the University of California, San Diego—one of the nation’s top performing arts schools. During his time at UCSD, Dohn traveled to Dakar, Senegal, where he performed a one-man show inspired by his childhood on Indianapolis' Westside. The production received acclaim from critics across Spain, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, and several West African nations.
Following his studies at UCSD, Dohn relocated to Los Angeles, where he currently lives. His first role in LA's performing arts scene was playing Romeo in the Ahmanson Theatre's 2001 production of Romeo & Juliet, directed by Sir Peter Hall of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Dohn’s passion for performance began in the fourth grade through an after-school drama club at Indianapolis Public School No. 2. He later participated in performing arts programs at Shortridge Junior High School and Broad Ripple High School.
Beyond acting, Dohn is also committed to community service. Having benefited from programs such as Indiana University’s Upward Bound as a student, and later contributing as a Tutor, Counselor, and Drama Instructor for Morehouse College’s Upward Bound Program, Dohn’s dedication to philanthropy is evident. He serves as Vice President and instructor for The T.Y.M.E. Foundation/Boys to Men Enrichment Program in South Los Angeles. This nonprofit organization focuses on teaching young men excellence through scholastic achievement, leadership, and community service.
