Biographie
Brent Florence is a writer, director, and actor renowned for the award-winning films "Eagles In The Chicken Coop" and "A Girl, Three Guys and a Gun," both of which he wrote, directed, and starred in. His most recent feature is the acclaimed rockumentary "Different Town," which he co-directed and co-produced. His recent commercial work includes directing a new visual campaign for the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and a character-comedy campaign for Qualcomm. As an actor, Brent's latest roles include the feature film "God Send," set for release this year, and a part in the award-winning "Meet Me In Montenegro," directed by Spirit Award winner Alex Holdridge, which had a US theatrical release this year.
Born in Ojai, California, Brent's passion for acting and writing began at eleven when he landed a role in a production of West Side Story. He immersed himself in the arts throughout his youth, performing and studying in Ojai and Santa Barbara. In 1994, he traveled globally pursuing his second passion, surfing. As a semi-professional surfer, Brent produced and directed his first film, "One Track Mind," a nonfiction surf movie distributed both in the US and internationally. Following this, he studied at USC's School of Cinema, participating in over thirty productions as an actor, writer, and director.
Within a year after graduating, Brent partnered with Lloyd A. Silverman, Executive Producer of "Snow Falling on Cedars," to produce the feature film "The Solid Ones," which Brent wrote and directed. The film earned awards and acclaim at festivals across the U.S. and was eventually sold and distributed under the title "A Girl, Three Guys And A Gun." Brent's latest feature, "Eagles In The Chicken Coop," which he wrote, directed, and starred in, featured a star-studded cast including Oscar nominee Kathleen Quinlan. "Eagles" won awards at every festival it entered across two continents, including Best Picture and Audience Awards at three of Movie Maker Magazine's "Top 25 Film Festivals in the US." Brent was uniquely nominated by name in three categories at the Milan International Film Festival—Best Directing, Best Screenwriting, and Best Picture—for his work on "Eagles," and won the prestigious Leonardo Da Vinci's Horse Award for Best Screenwriting. He also received the Best Director award in Hollywood before a sold-out crowd at the Egyptian Theater, and the film won the Audience Award at the New York United Film Festival.
Brent continues to write, direct, and act in commercial campaigns and feature films. He has completed multiple spec screenplays and TV pilot scripts and is currently developing his next narrative feature, a psychological thriller.
