Biographie
Neve McIntosh, born Carol McIntosh on 9 April 1972, is a Scottish actress.
She was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, and raised in Edinburgh, where she attended Boroughmuir High School. In the late 1980s, she was part of the Edinburgh Youth Theatre, performing in productions such as Mother Goose and Doctor in the House. McIntosh later moved to Glasgow to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Following her training, she joined repertory theatre companies in Perth and at The Little Theatre on the Isle of Mull.
During World War II, her grandfather was captured at Dunkirk and died of pneumonia in a German prisoner-of-war camp in Poland.
McIntosh subsequently appeared in a Glasgow stage production of The Trick is to Keep Breathing. She also performed in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Dickens' Great Expectations in Stratford, and took on the role of Portia in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice at the Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. In the summer of 2009, she acted in the Sylvia Plath play Three Women at the Edinburgh Festival. In February 2010, she starred as Catherine in the play Proof at Perth Theatre. By September 2011, she played Goneril in King Lear at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. In mid-2013, McIntosh appeared in the Actors Touring Company’s production of David Greig's The Events, which also ran in New York in early 2015. In 2017, she performed in Meet Me At Dawn at the Edinburgh International Festival, earning critical acclaim.
Her film work includes a role in American director Mark L. Feinsod’s debut film, Love And Lung Cancer. Alongside her television appearances, she has been featured in the films Gypsy Woman and One Last Chance. Between 2008 and 2009, McIntosh starred in several films including Salvage, Spring 1941 (co-starring Joseph Fiennes), and the award-winning Be All and End All.
In December 2009, she appeared in an episode of Sky 1's 10 Minute Tales, portraying the wife of a character played by Peter Capaldi.
In May 2010, McIntosh appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who alongside Matt Smith as the Doctor. She portrayed Alaya and Restac, two Silurian sisters disturbed beneath the earth—one captured by humans and the other seeking revenge. In October 2010, she co-starred with former Doctor Who star David Tennant in the BBC drama Single Father, playing Anna, the sister of the deceased wife of Tennant’s character, Dave.
In 2017, McIntosh played Kay Gillies in the BBC One drama The Replacement.
