Biographie
Stephen Reynolds is a Canadian film and television director, honored with a Daytime Emmy Award, recognized for his collaborative approach and expert craftsmanship that consistently delivers compelling storytelling and acclaimed performances. His foundation in visual and dramatic arts has influenced his distinctive style, noted for being "beautiful," "richly cinematic," and showcasing a diverse visual palette. Recently, he completed directing the second season of Hulu/CBC's "Endlings," the first season of Apple TV+'s "Ghostwriter," the fourth season of PBS Kids' "Odd Squad Mobile Unit," and the second season of Amazon's "Dino Dana." His earlier multi-episode work on "Haven," "Combat Hospital," and "Heartland" refined his dramatic skills, while his eight seasons on "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" earned him multiple award nominations. Reynolds is currently developing three television projects and two feature films.
His extensive directing credits span feature films, drama, comedy, science fiction, and children's programming, earning him, the shows, and the actors under his guidance numerous nominations and awards. Reynolds debuted as a feature film director with the award-winning "The Divine Ryans," starring the late Pete Postlethwaite. The film shared the People's Choice Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival alongside "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and was chosen by the China Film Archives in Beijing to open their Canadian Perspective series in November 2000, where Reynolds appeared as a guest speaker. His work on series such as "This Hour Has 22 Minutes," "That's So Weird," "Hatching, Matching and Dispatching," "Snakes and Ladders," "The Eleventh Hour" (also known as "Bury The Lead"), and "Made In Canada" (also known as "The Industry") has garnered Canadian Comedy and Gemini Award nominations and wins.
Before directing, Reynolds spent fifteen years working as a First Assistant Director and Line Producer across Canada. He also served as Programme Director at Norman Jewison's Canadian Film Centre under Wayne Clarkson during 1992-1993. A graduate of Halifax's avant-garde NSCAD art school (1984, BFA in Photography and Mixed Media), he currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.
