Biographie
Igor Alekseevich Vasilyev, born on May 20, 1938, in Moscow, Soviet Union (now Russia), was a Russian actor affiliated with the Moscow Art Theatre. He completed his acting studies at the School of Moscow Art Theatre in 1961. Between 1964 and 1970, he was a permanent member of the Sovremennik Theatre troupe in Moscow, where he performed alongside notable actors such as Oleg Efremov, Evgeniy Evstigneev, Galina Volchek, Stanislav Lyubshin, Anatoliy Romashin, Alla Pokrovskaya, Oleg Tabakov, Oleg Dal, Igor Kvasha, and Valentin Gaft.
From 1970 until 2007, Vasilyev was part of the Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT) troupe. His notable roles there included Zilov in Aleksandr Vampilov's "Utinaya Okhota" and Svidrigailov in the adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment." He became a leading actor in many MKhAT productions, sharing the stage with actors such as Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy, Yekaterina Vasilyeva, Tatyana Doronina, Oleg Efremov, Evgeniy Evstigneev, Oleg Tabakov, Aleksandr Kalyagin, and Andrei Popov. Following the troupe's division in 1987, he joined the MKhAT named after Anton Chekhov, continuing to work with prominent Russian actors.
Honored as a People's Artist of Russia, Vasilyev appeared in around 30 film and television roles, both leading and supporting. He passed away from heart failure on December 23, 2007, and was buried at Troekurovskoe Cemetery in Moscow.
