Biographie
Emmy nominee and award-winning actor, director, and screenwriter Jon Lindstrom was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. His early exposure to acting and filmmaking came through his father, Robert, a TV advertising executive who cast him in several local commercials. His mother, Sue, was a surgical nurse and homemaker, while his older brother, Jeff, is an electronic engineer. The entire extended family has a strong passion for the visual arts, engaging deeply in photography and painting.
In the summer of 2015, Lindstrom appeared throughout HBO's True Detective (2014) as the villain Jacob McCandless. In 2016, he was featured in two major projects: the theatrical sequel God's Not Dead 2 (2016) and the Freeform TV series Recovery Road (2016), along with indie films The Queen of Hollywood Blvd (2017) and Val-en-tina (2015). This followed a remarkable 2014, when his directorial debut, How We Got Away with It (2014), was commercially released by Devolver Films. Besides directing, he played a major role and contributed as co-screenwriter and co-producer. Lindstrom earned critical acclaim and numerous film festival awards and nominations in Best Of, Audience, and Acting categories. His film was selected for many festivals and was showcased at special screenings nationwide, even extending its theatrical run.
His recent award-winning indie films as an actor include What Happens Next (2011) alongside Wendie Malick, The Sacrifice (2008) with Molly C. Quinn, Chris Mulkey, and Darby Stanchfield—sharing the Angel Film Award for Best Ensemble Cast at the Monaco International Film Festival—and The Double Born (2008) with Sammi Davis (Hope and Glory).
Lindstrom is also recognized for co-writing and co-executive producing HBO/Time Warner’s The Hard Easy (2006), starring Vera Farmiga, Bruce Dern, and Peter Weller. He appeared opposite Diane Lane in the blockbuster Must Love Dogs (2005).
His short films have been official selections at numerous prestigious film festivals.
His extensive acting career includes long-running roles on the CBS drama As the World Turns (1956), for which he received an Emmy nomination for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and his well-known portrayal of disturbed twin brothers Drs. Kevin Collins and Ryan Chamberlain on ABC’s General Hospital (1963) and Port Charles (1997). Other notable TV credits include NCIS (2003), Drop Dead Diva (2009), Blue Bloods (2010), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000), Everwood (2002), and telefilms such as McBride: Dogged (2007) with John Larroquette, The Sitter (2006) directed by Russell Mulcahy, Ice Dreams (2009) with Jerry Stiller, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999) with Halle Berry, Fall from Grace (1990) alongside Kevin Spacey and Bernadette Peters, The Alamo: Thirteen Days to Glory (1987) with Alec Baldwin, and Right on Track (2003) with Brie Larson and Beverly Mitchell.
Music has played a significant role in Lindstrom’s creative journey. A lifelong drummer, his band The High Lonesome released the album Feel Free To Do So, earning industry praise and two singles reaching "most added" status on the Billboard Hot 100. The band also recorded new songs for their 2010 release, The High Lonesome Collector's Album 1995-2010.
In addition to How We Got Away with It (2014) and numerous short films, Lindstrom has directed for both ABC and CBS networks.
