Biographie
Ann Hagemann, an American actor, is dedicated to "telling stories that need to be told." Raised in the Midwest, she cherishes her "wide open spaces" despite enjoying work wherever her projects take her. Like many film and TV actors, she began her career in live theatre, portraying roles such as Catherine Holly in Tennessee Williams' "Suddenly Last Summer," Eva Peron in "Evita," the Narrator in "Joseph...Dreamcoat," Peter in "Peter Pan," and Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady," among others. She is also a pianist and singer and has written a children's musical titled "The Little House Story," based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's books.
After returning to the industry following the raising of her sons, some of her on-screen highlights include co-starring with Emmy-winning actress Sharon Gless in "Hannah Free," an independent feature that won Best Picture at various US and European film festivals, including Frameline in San Francisco. She has co-starred on "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago Med," acted opposite Jodie Sweetin (Full House) in the romantic comedy "Love's Second Act," played Tiffany Smith's mom in Lifetime's "Trapped in a Cabin," enjoyed working alongside Eddie Steeples (My Name is Earl) in the dark comedy "Farewell Charlie," portrayed the notorious serial killer Belle Guiness in "Belle," and was honored to be cast in a supporting role in the feature "Overhill Manor" with John Rhys-Davies and Paris Brosnan, set for US theatrical release in summer 2026.
In recent years, Ann has also developed her own project, "Say It in German," a period drama based on true events in the Midwest during WWII. The story is told through the eyes of three German American children confronting wartime farming life, their father's tuberculosis diagnosis, and anti-German sentiment. Sarah Drew (Grey's Anatomy, Mom's Night Out, Cruel Summer) is attached to the project, with Ann playing the children's German immigrant Oma. The screenplay has earned the prestigious Parents Television & Film Council of America Seal, the same distinction awarded to "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock.
