Biographie
Johnny Olvera is a writer-director, producer, and founder of Goldwood Cinema. Known as The Producer’s Director, his work combines performance-centered storytelling, cinematic visual language, and practical production discipline.
A SAG AFTRA actor since childhood, Olvera spent more than three decades studying performance from inside the scene. He later worked professionally as a script supervisor for 12 years on feature films, television movies, and pilots, developing a detailed understanding of coverage, continuity, scheduling, actor communication, and editorial workflow.
That combination shapes his directing approach: protect the actor, clarify the story, and design the production so the intended film can be delivered.
Olvera made his feature directorial debut with The Warren, a neo-noir mystery filmed across more than 30 locations in three days for $3,200. The completed film became an Official Nominee at the SAG AFTRA American Scene Awards and is now streaming on Tubi. His work has been described as "Stylish" by K. Ann Ross of Backstage West.
He studied at Sherwood Oaks Experimental College, where he later served as faculty, and continued his professional development through ScreenwriterU and Cinema Arts Tech. Early in his career, his writing led to industry meetings with Fox and RatPac Entertainment, as well as a shopping agreement with Zero Gravity Management. Through Goldwood Cinema, Olvera develops character-driven film and television projects across drama, thriller, science fiction, romance, action, animation, and elevated genre storytelling.
His work begins with emotion - but it is built to withstand production.
