Biography
Nima Javidi, born in 1980, is an Iranian screenwriter and director. His debut feature film, "Melbourne" (2014), premiered as the opening film in the Critics' Week at the Venice Film Festival (2014) and was showcased at over 90 festivals worldwide, including the Tokyo, Stockholm, Zurich, Cairo, Mar del Plata, Shanghai, and Istanbul film festivals. "Melbourne" earned him 14 international awards, such as Best Film at the Cairo Film Festival (2014), Best Script at the Stockholm Film Festival (2014), Best Script at the Asia Pacific Awards (2014), and both Best Director and Best Script at the Gijon Film Festival (2014). His second feature, "The Warden," premiered at the 63rd London Film Festival and was screened at more than 27 festivals globally. Javidi co-wrote the screenplay for "Sun Children" with renowned Iranian director Majid Majidi; the film, directed by Majidi, competed in the official section of the Venice Film Festival (2020) and was among the 15 films shortlisted for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 93rd Academy Awards. His latest project, the series "The Actor," won the Grand Prize at the Series Mania Festival (2023), received an Honorable Mention at the Serien Camp Festival (2023), and was nominated for Best Mini Series, Best Script, and Best Actor at the Seoul Drama Awards (2023). Additionally, Javidi is a member of the Asia Pacific Academy Awards and has served as a jury member at the 54th Gijon Film Festival (2016), the 19th Tbilisi Film Festival (2018), and the 2nd Dostluk Film Festival (2019).
