Biography
Ashley Comeau is a queer, award-winning actor, producer, and writer with more than 15 years of professional experience. As a Second City mainstage alumna, she wrote and starred in three theatrical revues, earning nominations for both a Dora Award and a Canadian Comedy Award.
Recognized as 'Best Female Improviser' by NOW Magazine's "Best Of Awards," she recently won a Canadian Comedy Award for Second City's first all-female-identifying revue, She The People. Her comedy troupe, The Lusty Mannequins, was named 'Best of the Fest' at the Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival and received the 'Best Comedy Characters of the Year' Award from Phoenix Remix, UK, for their original show Uncommonwealth during their debut at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Notable theatre credits include She The People (Mirvish/Just For Laughs), Uncommonwealth (Edinburgh Fringe), Little Black Dress The Musical, People Suck, Songbuster: An Improvised Musical, Noises Off, and Girls Night Out! Her TV and film appearances include The Boys (Amazon Prime), Transplant (NBC), Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Odd Squad Mobile Unit (PBS/TVO), Tallboyz (CBC), Christmas Jars (Muse), and Degrassi: The Next Class (Netflix/DHX).
She served as associate producer and creative consultant on two Canadian Screen Award-nominated shows: It's My Party (TVO) and Tallboyz (CBC). Her TV producing credits feature Paranormal 911 (T+E), It's My Party (TVO), Haunted Hospitals (T+E), and The Zone (YTV). During lockdown, she had the honor of working as Consulting Producer on Tallboyz season three.
Her live production experience includes the BANFF World Media Program Competition Awards Luncheon and Gala (Achilles/Brunico), Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival (TSCF), Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF), and co-founding and co-producing the Mama City Improv Festival, Africa’s first international improv festival held in Cape Town.
Ashley has penned editorials for Today's Parent, CBC's Punchline, and The Walrus Laughs. She has traveled worldwide performing and facilitating improv and corporate communications and returns annually to Cape Town to celebrate global improv talent at the Mama City Improv Festival.
