Biography
Mohamed Fekrane, a Franco-Moroccan director, producer, and screenwriter, was born on July 17, 1972, in Tonnerre, Yonne, France. He gained recognition in 2010 with his debut multi-award-winning historical short film "Together," featuring Habib Kadi, Tony Baillargeat, Arsène Mosca, and Clémence Thioly, which depicts the resistance of the Paris mosque during the occupation.
He has directed numerous short films, commercials, documentaries, and music videos, including the 57-minute documentary "Khaïma (La Tente)" in 2023; the "Inwi" National Campaign (2020-2022) TV commercial; the 2015 short film "Sahara Swing"; the 2014 music video "Asma Lmnawar: Hakawa"; the 2012 short film "Bonjour Madame, Bonjour Monsieur"; the 2010 documentary "Essaouira Gnawa Music Festival"; the 2010 Chopard Golf advertising film; and the 2010 short film "Together."
In December 2022, his first feature-length theatrical film, "Dernier Round," was released after earning numerous awards and nominations at international festivals. The film follows three street children in Morocco, led by Rachid, who fights in illegal boxing matches to finance his clandestine journey across the Strait of Gibraltar to Europe. "Dernier Round" showcases emerging Moroccan cinema talents Youssef Ettouile, Ahmed Elmir, and Yacine Elgarda alongside an international cast including Rabie Kati, Rachel Khan, Moussa Maaskri, Habib Kadi, Farid Elouardi, Mustapha Abourachid, and Yassine Azzouz.
