Travis Stevens is recognized for his inventive visuals, contemporary themes, and for challenging genre conventions, making his filmmaking bold and unpredictable.
In 2019, his writing and directing debut, "Girl On The Third Floor," premiered at SXSW. Featuring wrestling star CM Punk, the film won the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for "Best First Feature" and became the #2 most-watched film on Netflix, captivating audiences with its horror.
His next film, the feminist vampire comedy "Jakob's Wife," debuted at SXSW 2021 and earned a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It received the 2022 Rondo Award for "Best Independent Film" and garnered a Critics' Choice Super Award nomination for lead actress Barbara Crampton ("Best Actress in a Horror Movie"), alongside Fangoria Chainsaw Award nominations for her "Best Lead Performance" and Larry Fessenden's "Best Supporting Performance."
His most recent work, the Shudder Original "A Wounded Fawn," stars Josh Ruben, Sarah Lind, and Malin Barr. This visually striking, original horror film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim and sold-out shows. It was named one of the "Best Horror Films of 2022" by The Hollywood Reporter, The A.V. Club, Slash Film, Paste Magazine, and holds a 95% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Prior to focusing on writing and directing, Stevens produced several acclaimed genre films, including Adam Wingard's "A Horrible Way To Die," the documentary "Jodorowsky's Dune," E.L. Katz's "Cheap Thrills," and Sarah Adina Smith's "Buster's Mal Heart," starring Rami Malek.
