Biography
Louis G. Friedman, President of Production Logistics, hails from San Francisco and graduated cum laude in Dramatic Art from the University of California. Trained under Alfred Hitchcock's protégé, he served as Assistant Director and Production Supervisor at Lucasfilm Ltd., contributing to films such as 'More American Graffiti', 'The Empire Strikes Back', 'Return of the Jedi', 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', and 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'. As a Production Executive, he collaborated with 'Dynasty' producers Richard and Esther Shapiro, Dutch director Paul Verhoeven on the cult classic 'Starship Troopers', and worked in Mexico with James Cameron on the groundbreaking 'Titanic', which earned $2.2 billion worldwide.
As Executive Producer, his credits include Vin Diesel's 'Bloodshot', Mark Wahlberg's Boston bombing drama 'Patriots Day', and 'Lone Survivor'. Other notable films include the original 'American Pie', which grossed $235 million globally, along with its sequels 'American Wedding' and 'American Reunion', as well as 'Piranha 3D', 'Into the Blue', 'Blue Crush', 'How High', 'Accepted', '2 Guns', and Hugh Jackman's 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'.
Friedman’s extensive television experience features Apple+’s 'The Morning Show', 'Blood & Oil', 'The Office', 'JAG', 'L.A. Law', 'Murder She Wrote', 'Paper Dolls', 'Hunter', 'Out of Time', 'Gun', various Movies of the Week, 'Sesame Street', and live performances with John Williams' Boston Pops Orchestra and Eunice Kennedy-Shriver's Special Olympics at the Kennedy Center. Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, micro and macro logistics, crew hiring, vendor negotiations, and overseeing physical production budgets ranging from $200K to $200M, Friedman is a seasoned producer adept at working with global film commissions and selecting domestic and international locations to optimize local infrastructure, investment tax credits, cash rebates, grants, and foreign exchange.
A member of both the Directors Guild of America and Producers Guild of America, he has taught Budgeting and Scheduling for Motion Pictures as faculty at the International Film and Television Workshop in Rockport, Maine. He also contributed to the $1.5 billion planning of the Wuxi Chinawood Sound Stages in Jiangsu province.
With decades of global physical production experience across trendsetting animation, CGI, VFX, and live-action projects in celluloid, digital, IMAX, 3D, and virtual production, Louis has collaborated with many of the American Film Market’s top studios, directors, producers, writers, actors, and technicians. He has contributed to fifteen feature films that each grossed over $100 million at the box office, totaling $6 billion worldwide. Over his career, he has worked on more than 70 film projects, earning 37 Oscar nominations and 21 Oscar wins, while his television projects have received 352 nominations from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, alongside 12 Golden Globe awards and 25 Emmy awards.
