Biography
Born in Chicago and raised in Northwest Indiana, Tony’s early years were far from the stable and supportive environment every child deserves. At age 2, he and his older brother were removed from their biological parents by DCFS due to substance abuse issues. They briefly lived with their biological aunt before being placed in multiple foster homes. At 9, Tony and his brother were finally adopted by Dr. Angelo and Kathy Bonaventura. Despite what seemed like a normal life, Tony faced many challenges. His parents divorced when he was 13, and he struggled with behavioral issues at school and encounters with the law. He was expelled from several high schools, including St. John’s Military Academy after escaping in the trunk of a friend’s car, and later from Valparaiso High School during his senior year. During these difficult times, Tony was incarcerated but eventually earned his GED. On November 4, 1997, Tony lost his father, to whom he was very close, to cancer. Amidst the instability, one passion endured: his desire to act. At 21, Tony became a father to a daughter named Michela, a moment that motivated him to refocus and pursue his goals. At 23, he moved to Chicago to begin his acting career. Tony attended Columbia College for two years, majoring in Film, and also studied acting at the Audition Studio. He appeared in several low-budget films, including The Guys (2004), which premiered at the Music Box during the Chicago Comedy Film Festival, and I Was A Mathlete Until I Met Margo Marris (2003), which screened at the Chicago International Film Festival, Tribeca, Newport Beach, Dances with Films (Santa Monica, CA), and the Sidewalk Moving Film Festival. When not working on films, Tony performed theater at Navy Pier, one of Chicago’s major tourist destinations. In the production This Town, Tony portrays Jimmy, a young man who shares a one-night stand with his adolescent self alongside his childhood friends.
