Biography
Esther Canata is an international singer-songwriter, recording artist, and actress for both stage and screen.
Raised in New Jersey, she began singing in church at age five and pursued voice, dance, and acting throughout her childhood. Esther attended the prestigious Somerset County Vocational/Technical gifted and talented program in high school, advanced her theatrical training as an apprentice actor at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, and became a second-year alumna of the renowned William Esper Drama School in New York City, where she trained under Vicki Hart and Bill Esper. She was also invited to Bill Esper’s exclusive third-year MasterClass and participated in a Shakespeare Intensive.
As an indie film actress, Esther has starred in American Mummy, appeared opposite Michael Madsen in Hired Gun, and featured in Metro, Slammed, and alongside Drea De Matteo in Love, Rome.
Her notable stage credits include Othello and Cowboy Mouth at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival, Mark Weiser’s rock opera The Cure at NYC’s famed Club Limelight, Steve Yockey’s award-winning Disassembly at Theatre of Note in Hollywood, and various productions at the Hollywood Fringe Festival. She has trained and performed alongside actors such as Peter Dinklage, David Harbour, and Drea De Matteo and is a member of Theatre of Note in Hollywood.
Esther is a long-standing ASCAP member, previously held a publishing deal with BMG Music, and licenses her music for film and TV soundtracks through Warner Bros., Miramax, Lifetime, SyFy, Netflix, and others. She has performed worldwide across genres including neo-soul, electronica, pop rock, and house music. As the frontwoman of the cinematic electronic-pop duo LionGale, she collaborates with composer and producer Lionel Cohen. Esther has performed at iconic venues from New York City to Los Angeles and Europe, including Joe's Pub, The Cutting Room, The Whiskey Go-Go, The Knitting Factory, House of Blues, The Viper Room, The Roxy, and The Lovestock Festival. She was also a contestant on Fuse TV’s Redemption Song. Her collaborations include award-winning producers such as Jimmy Harry, Tommy Coster, Frederik Weidmann, Peter Michael Escovedo, Lionel Cohen, Angelo Milli, Lucas Vidal, Andy Heard, Anthony Krizan, Skully, David Merige, and Mark Garcia.
