Biography
Breno Silveira is a renowned Brazilian film director with a distinguished career spanning movies, music videos, and television commercials. As a partner at Conspiração Filmes, Breno holds a degree in cinematography from École Louis-Lumière in Paris. He began his career as a director of photography, contributing to over ten feature films. His debut feature, "Dois Filhos de Francisco" ("Two Sons of Francisco"), released in 2005, became one of Brazil's biggest blockbusters in the last 25 years, attracting more than 5.3 million viewers in theaters and serving as Brazil’s Oscar submission that year. He also directed "Era Uma Vez" ("Once Upon a Time in Rio") in 2008, which was selected for the Toronto International Film Festival; "À Beira do Caminho" ("Along the Way") in 2012, which won five awards at the Cine PE Festival, including best film, best screenplay, and best actor; and "Gonzaga - de Pai pra Filho" ("Gonzaga") in 2012, which earned five major Brazilian Cinema awards, including best film, best director, and best actor. In 2016, Breno created and directed his first television series, "1 Contra Todos" ("One Against All"), the most-watched Brazilian series on paid TV in Brazil, ranking second only to "The Walking Dead" on the Fox channel. The series boosted Fox's prime time audience by 74% and received an International Emmy® Awards nomination.
Following this success, the series is in its third season, and Fox is developing an international remake. Breno’s latest project, "Entre Irmãs" ("The Seamstress") from 2017—a feature film and a short series on Rede Globo, Brazil's largest TV network—became the most successful show on Brazilian television in the past 20 years, reaching over 84 million viewers.
