Biography
Samuel K. Dolan is a writer, director, Emmy Award-winning producer, and nonfiction author. Alongside his extensive production work, Dolan has contributed to True West Magazine and other publications. He has authored several books, including "Hell Paso: Life and Death in the Old West's Most Dangerous Town" and "Cowboys and Gangsters: Stories of an Untamed Southwest." His production experience includes significant projects for the History Channel, Discovery, and National Geographic. Additionally, he has worked as an interpretive specialist for the United States Marine Corps Historical Company.
Dolan began his career on horseback at age 13, participating in feature films like "Tombstone" and "Maverick" in 1993. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he took on various film and television roles while also working behind the scenes as a weapons handler, horse wrangler, and stunt double. He transitioned into documentary television in 1998. In 2008, he earned a News and Documentary Emmy as one of the producers of "A Distant Shore: African Americans of D-Day," a History Channel special that showcased the contributions of African American soldiers during the Normandy Invasion.
In 2010, Dolan developed a series concept focusing on the Navajo Nation Police in Arizona and New Mexico. That same year, he wrote and produced the pilot episode of "Navajo Cops" for the National Geographic Channel. In the summer of 2011, National Geographic commissioned six additional episodes. Dolan acted as Senior Producer and Director for all six episodes, writing three of the hour-long installments. Produced by Flight 33 Productions during 2011 and early 2012, the series premiered on March 12, 2012, on the National Geographic Channel. In 2013, Dolan worked as writer, director, and Senior Producer on the Military Channel's "Warrior POV" and also served as writer and Senior Producer on H2's 16-part series "Big History," narrated by Bryan Cranston.
From 2006 to 2015, Dolan was a staff Senior Producer, writer, director, and military adviser at Flight 33 Productions. More recently, he has taken on the role of Supervising Producer with Warm Springs Productions.
