Biography
Renowned Norwegian character actor, scenic designer, director, and manager. Coming from a family of notable actors—including Harald Stormoen, Hans Stormoen, and Guri Stormoen—his path to the stage seemed almost natural. He began as a scenic designer at Trøndelag Theater in 1945, and between 1951 and 1952, he served as an actor and manager at Rogaland Theater in Stavanger. From 1953 to 1985, he worked in Bergen, Oslo, and Trondheim, managing Trøndelag Theater from 1973 to 1979, and also engaging in film and television projects. He performed numerous stage roles, including Oberon and Tranio (Shakespeare), Solomon (Miller), and Phil Hogan (O'Neill), as well as many characters in Ludvig Holberg’s comedies, showcasing his talent as a skilled comic actor. His film career includes many notable performances, with standout roles in Kimen (1974), Streik! (1975), Byggmester Solness (1981), and Familjen (2002). He received an Amanda Award for his portrayal of Pa in the film Eggs (1995). Even in his later years, Stormoen remains active in theater, participating in events related to Henrik Ibsen in 2006. His son, Even Stormoen, is also an actor.
