Svenja and her daughter Kira, who is 16 years old, have traveled extensively around the world. Svenja, a hotel manager, is currently revamping an aging hotel in Australia. However, her biggest obstacle is her daughter, who has initiated a complete shutdown and refuses to listen to anything Svenja says. Kira's confrontational nature at school has resulted in conflicts with her mother. Following another argument, Kira turns to her only friend, Jack, who is an Aboriginal. Together, the two teens venture out to discover their "special place," a spot that holds significance to them. When Svenja realizes Kira is missing, she becomes frantic and, with the help of Kalti, Jack's father, a laid-back hotel boat guide whom Svenja had earlier released, sets out to cross the barren and deserted Outback. Thus, the duo embarks on an exciting journey that is both bizarre and dangerous, filled with awe-inspiring moments.
