Biografía
Emily Lim is a Malaysian-born Chinese actress, model, host, and nutritionist. In 2005, she competed in the Miss ASTRO International Chinese Pageant in Malaysia, earning titles such as 1st runner-up, Miss Perfect Body, and Miss Elegant. Her acting debut came in 2006 with the local TV series "The Beginning." In 2019, she won Best Leading Actress at the Kuala Lumpur Film Critics Association of Malaysia (Anugerah Majlis Pengkritik Filem Kuala Lumpur) for her role in the local horror film "Two Sisters."
Emily's first television role was a minor part in "The Beginning," a series co-produced by Malaysia's ntv7 and Singapore's Mediacorp Studios in 2006, where her performance stood out. That same year, she gained further roles in Mediacorp Studios' local dramas, including "Falling In Love," "The Beautiful Scent," "Glittering Days," "Addicted To Love," and "My Destiny," among others. She also became a favorite among commercial advertisers, appearing in numerous eye-catching advertisements.
In 2009, Emily secured a significant role as one of the leads in the drama series "My Kampong Days," which aired on ntv7. The following year, she starred in "Injustice." Despite her enthusiasm, she sometimes felt out of place due to a lack of formal acting training. She also faced pressure to maintain a slim figure, resorting to extreme dieting methods that caused hormonal imbalances and impacted her health. This led to depression and a nearly year-long break from acting. During the challenging period while filming "Injustice," she met her future husband, Alan Yun, who offered constant support and encouragement, helping her regain confidence and overcome her struggles.
Emily's acting career steadily progressed from 2011 to 2019, with roles in notable Chinese drama series such as "Justice In The City," "In Laws II," "On the Brink," "The Precedents," "Turning Point," "Secret Lover," "My Sensei Nyonya," "Turning Point 2," and "I Court You." In 2012, she attended an acting course in Los Angeles, which boosted her confidence in her abilities. Concurrently, she studied nutrition, expanding her knowledge of human nutrition and diet quality, graduating as a nutritionist in 2013.
In 2018, Emily starred in the thriller film "Two Sisters," directed by James Lee. Her outstanding performance earned her the Best Leading Actress award from the Kuala Lumpur Film Critics Association and a nomination at the 30th Malaysia Film Festival. "Two Sisters" was also showcased at prominent film festivals, including the China Golden Rooster Awards and the 21st Udine Far East Film Festival in Italy, receiving widespread acclaim.
