Biografía
Michelle Roy grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her father is Canadian actor Victor Roy. She began her on-camera acting career as a child at Children's Television Studios in Toronto and later graduated from the On-Camera Acting program at TVS-TV Studios, also in Toronto. She completed high school as an Honor Roll student at Monarch Park Collegiate Institute in Toronto.
Between 2007 and 2011, Michelle balanced full-time day work with evening and weekend classes, earning a Certificate in Psychology with a Specialization in Abnormal Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University). During this time, she also worked part-time evenings for her student union and attended Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto, where she served as a part-time Teaching Assistant during evenings and weekends.
In 2012, Michelle published her debut novel, "Black: A Novel," a blend of horror, occult, and romance, under the pseudonym Mae Sekhmet. She later adapted this work into a short film, which she wrote, directed, produced, and acted in. From 2016 to 2021, she received On-Camera Acting coaching at LB Acting Studio in Toronto. In late 2017, Michelle released her second novel, "Rycombinant_9," a mix of horror, science fiction, and romance, under her legal name. Both novels are available through Lulu Publishing.
In March 2018, Michelle was elected Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a two-year term. She was elected Member-At-Large on the same caucus in February 2020 for another two-year term. Since 2021, she has participated in the outACTRAto Committee. In 2022, she was re-elected Vice-Chair of the ACTRA Toronto Apprentice Caucus for a second two-year term but resigned a few months into the role after becoming a full ACTRA union member. That same year, she joined the newly formed ACTRA Toronto Green Committee.
In October 2023, Michelle earned a Certificate in Film Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University, focusing on Producing, Fiction Screenwriting, Sound Design, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, and Grip/Gaffer work. She has since filmed several short films, written multiple short film screenplays, and developed a comedy television series and a web series, all at various stages of progress.
In July 2024, Michelle proudly became a SAG-AFTRA member.
She is also considering writing a third novel while continuing her acting career.
