Biografía
Earle Foxe was born to Charles Aldrich Fox, originally from Flint, Michigan. His half-sister, Ethel May Fox, was the daughter of Charles Aldrich Fox and Katie Eldridge. Ethel was a music teacher and actively involved in musical productions in Detroit, Michigan. Earle kept his early life private, claiming Ohio as his birthplace. As a young man, he moved to New York and became a successful stage actor. Later, he relocated to California and signed with Fox Studios (unrelated to his family). In 1923, he married Gladys Borum and subsequently adopted Chester E. Foxe. During the early 1920s, he lived at "The Lambs" in New York, located at 130 West 44th Street. He moved to California in 1922. Around 1943, he founded the Black Foxe School, a military academy for boys. Earle Foxe was cremated after his death. He is referenced in Lewis Jacobs' *The Rise of the American Film* (p. 412): "Screen villains were streamlined into 'gigolos.' They were attractive, nonchalant, sophisticated, witty, 'humanly wicked.' Lew Cody, Adolphe Menjou, Earle Foxe, Roy D'Arcy, Rod LaRocque, Stuart Holmes, Nils Asther, Lowell Sherman, William Powell, and most strikingly Erich von Stroheim, were the fascinating menaces, the hated, envied men of the world.
