Domnica Cîrciumaru is a Romanian casting director with over 24 years of experience in film and television, having contributed to more than 100 feature films and numerous international projects. She has collaborated with directors including Francis Lee (God’s Own Country), Veit Helmer (The Bra), Claude Lelouch (What War May Bring), Mick Davis (Modigliani), Fredrik Bond (Charlie Countryman), Cristian Nemescu (California Dreamin’), Christian Carion (Joyeux Noël), Martin Campbell (The Protégé), and Mona Fastvold (The World to Come). In television, she has overseen casting for some of Romania’s most successful series, such as Subteran (Netflix), Umbre (HBO), Clanul (Pro TV), Groapa (VOYO), and Las Fierbinți (Pro TV). She has also cast numerous international series, including Spy/Master (HBO Max), Django (Sky / Canal+), Rise of Empires: Ottoman (Netflix), A Spy Among Friends (ITV / Paramount+), and DNA (Canal+). Domnica began her career in 2002 as a casting assistant and served as casting director at MediaPro Pictures, Romania’s largest film studio at the time, from 2004 to 2012. In 2013, she launched her own casting agency, cementing her reputation as a leading casting professional. She is a member of the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA), the Casting Society (CSA), and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). In 2021, she became the first Romanian casting director invited to join the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
