Biografía
Toby launched his acting career at Northern Illinois University, where he immersed himself in theater. He studied voice, movement, and the Meisner Acting Technique, performing frequently on stage during his time there.
After graduation, Toby acted on stage in Dublin, Ireland, and in various Chicago productions. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue further opportunities, where he began auditioning and securing roles.
He starred in Paramount Pictures' "A Separate Peace," directed by two-time Academy Award nominee Peter Yates and produced by Oscar-winning producers Michael Sugar and Dustin Hoffman.
In "A Separate Peace," Toby acted alongside legendary actor and Oscar nominee Hume Cronyn, marking Cronyn's final performance before his passing. Cronyn received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Performer for this role.
The film was nominated for multiple Emmys and won Best Script at the Writers Guild Awards. "A Separate Peace" is widely taught in high school literature classes across the United States.
Toby has been active with the Ruskin Theater Company in Santa Monica, California, where he retrained in the Meisner Approach and performed extensively, including a lead role as Christian opposite Olivia D'abo in their production of "Cyrano De Bergerac."
Throughout his career, Toby has worked with Katie Holmes, Maggie Grace, Forest Whitaker, Robert Forster, Christopher Meloni, Gary Cole, Mariska Hargitay, Allison Pill, and David Caruso. He recently starred in Jameson Den Hartog’s short film "MICAL," filmed in Chicago, and is set to appear in "Serah," starring Gilles Marini and directed by Timothy Hines.
Toby is also attached to lead roles in "Playing with the Enemy" and "The Final Service," both written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Keith Merrill.
