Laura McKenzie is an award-winning television host, actress, writer, producer, and director. She has appeared in numerous TV series, specials, motion pictures, and commercials. Laura has earned multiple Emmy nominations and won the prestigious Gracie Award from the Alliance for Women in Media for her work as a TV host.
She co-hosted ESPN's award-winning series Dangerous and Endangered and hosted her own NBC radio show for over a decade. Laura has featured in several feature films including Chill Factor, Visions, Red Sun Down, and The Lost Samurai.
Laura has written and hosted several TV series such as Great Moments of the 20th Century for Discovery Channel (26 hours), Laura McKenzie's Round Trip for Travel Channel (52 half-hours), Laura McKenzie's Travel Tips for Travel Channel (26 half-hours), Laura McKenzie's Travel America for Discovery (52 half-hours), and American Adventurer, the longest-running adventure show on television with 270 episodes syndicated and aired on Discovery. Additionally, she appeared in TV series like Platinum, Exposing the DaVinci Code, Unlocking Ancient Secrets of the Bible, The DaVinci Code Tour, and Baby Animals, a children's series.
As a travel expert, Laura has been featured on the CBS Morning Show, Marie, Extra!, and Oprah. Her long-running program, Laura McKenzie's Traveler, has aired hundreds of episodes in over 180 U.S. markets—the largest reach for a travel show of its kind—and in more than 87 countries worldwide. She writes a newspaper column titled "Laura McKenzie's Travel Tips," contributes to USA Weekend Magazine, and was honored with a magazine cover feature for her travel program.
Laura produced and developed the first travel home video series aimed at providing essential travel tips throughout the videos. Her innovative production, marketing strategies including "vid review," made the series one of the highest-grossing and most successful home video series globally.
For ten consecutive years, Laura held six of the Top 10 spots on the special interest home video charts with her Travel Tips series, which also earned the "Billboard Award of the Decade." The series was distributed by Republic Pictures and broadcast on the Travel Channel and Discovery.
She served as the spokesperson for Best Western Hotels worldwide for four years and authored several travel books published by Donning Publishing. Titles include Dining by Candlelight, Bed & Champagne, Travel Tips London, Travel Tips Paris, Travel Tips San Francisco, Travel Tips Los Angeles, Travel Tips New York, Travel Tips Orlando, Travel Tips Rome, and Travel Tips Hawaii. She also created the "Travel Notes" concept, offering portable guides for sightseeing.
Laura is a celebrity spokesperson for the Marines Toys for Tots and UNICEF.
She was honored with a star by the Thalians at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for her contributions to the mental health charity.
Together with Erik Estrada, Laura hosts World's Funniest Moments, a syndicated series of holiday specials. Due to their success, she will also host the nationally syndicated World's Funniest Moments series later this year. Alongside Erik Estrada, Dean Cain, and Montel Williams, Laura has hosted The Hollywood Christmas Parade for eight years. She serves as chairperson of the parade and was the key figure behind revitalizing this Hollywood tradition, restoring its prestige, national exposure, and excitement for the beloved holiday event.
