Christopher Bowman, known as "Bowman the Showman," was born in Hollywood, California, on March 30, 1967, and raised in Van Nuys. He trained in Burbank throughout his 18-year skating career. From a young age, his parents recognized the importance of quality training and representation, hiring Mary Grady of the Mary Grady Agency, then the top children's agency, along with acting coach Alice Hour, renowned for her work as the script coach on Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic Psycho. Christopher appeared in over 500 television commercials and shows, including Little House on the Prairie (1974) and Archie Bunker's Place (1979), sharing the screen with legends such as Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, and Carroll O'Connor.
Christopher later expanded into feature films as both an actor and stuntman through Stunts Unlimited. His film credits include Casey's Shadow (1978) with Walter Matthau, the cult classic Surf Nazis Must Die (1987), License to Drive (1988) with Corey Haim, and Joel Schumacher's The Lost Boys (1987).
As a figure skater, Christopher gained international fame as "Bowman the Showman," becoming one of the most electrifying and captivating men's singles skaters in history. His career, spanning 18 years, was guided by legendary coach Frank Carroll, who also coached Linda Fratianne and Michelle Kwan. Christopher was a two-time U.S. National Champion, earned five U.S. National Championship medals, two World Championship medals, was Junior Worlds Champion, and competed twice on the U.S. Winter Olympic team. He amassed the largest fan base ever recorded for a Winter Olympian.
Following his successful competitive skating career, Christopher transitioned to television commentary, working with FOX Sports and serving as the lead skating analyst for ESPN during U.S. National and World Championships and other major international events. He also announced for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games via NBC Radio and WFAN in New York. Known for his fun-loving personality and dedication to the sport, Christopher is now a respected coach, running a highly successful skating school that offers figure and power skating seminars worldwide.
Most recently, Christopher returned to his passion for acting, securing a role as an assistant football coach in the family feature film Down and Distance (2010), slated for release in early 2008, starring Gary Busey, Master P, Little Romeo, and football legend Brian Bosworth.
