Biografía
Rosemary Forsyth, a tall, slender, and strikingly attractive Canadian blonde, was born in Montreal on July 6, 1943. She moved to New York at age five with her divorced mother, who worked as a model. Encouraged by her mother, Rosemary developed an interest in acting and studied drama throughout high school. She also pursued modeling as a teenager and attended the Wynn Handman Drama School.
In the mid-1960s, Universal Studios noticed Rosemary and prepared her for a career in television and film. Possessing a soft, demure beauty with a classic elegance reminiscent of Grace Kelly, she showed great potential as a young ingénue and romantic co-star alongside established male actors. She starred opposite James Stewart in Shenandoah (1965), earning a Golden Globe nomination for "Promising Newcomer," as well as Charlton Heston in The War Lord (1965), and both Dean Martin and Alain Delon in Texas Across the River (1966).
After marrying actor Michael Tolan in 1966, Rosemary took a hiatus from acting to have their daughter, Alexandra. Although this was a joyous time, it temporarily slowed her career momentum. She returned with films like Where It's At (1969) and the mediocre Dick Van Dyke comedy Some Kind of a Nut (1969), but never quite regained her previous career peak.
Rosemary frequently appeared on television throughout the 1970s, featuring in numerous TV movies and guest roles. She portrayed Laura Horton on Days of Our Lives from 1976 to 1980, and had recurring roles on Santa Barbara (1984) and General Hospital (1963).
In later years, she took on more mature roles in popular series such as Monk (2002), NYPD Blue (1993), and Without a Trace (2002). Her film appearances during this period often cast her as mothers or professionals in movies including Exit to Eden (1994), Girl (1998), Valerie Flake (1999), and Ghosts of Mars (2001). Her most recent TV work includes appearances on Providence, Boston Public, Monk, NYPD Blue, and Without a Trace, with her last known role in the family-oriented TV movie Sweet Nothing in My Ear (2008), starring Jeff Daniels and Marlee Matlin.
Rosemary divorced Michael Tolan in 1970 and subsequently married and divorced two more times, and was widowed once.
